An 80-kb human bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) containing all of the UCP2 and UCP3 genes was used to create the transgenic mice. The BAC contained UCP3 and then UCP2 in a 5'-3' orientation. An additional ~40 kb of sequence was 5' of UCP3 and there was 8 kb of sequence 3' to UCP2. (J:114746)
