The rearranged 2B4 beta chain with 4.5 kb of 5' sequence was cleaved at the EcoRV site in the 3' untranslated exon of Cbeta and a XhoI linker was inserted. The resulting 9.3 kb fragment extending from the 5' end of the clone was ligated to a 3 kb fragment carrying the 3' end of the C beta 2. the immunoglobin heavy-chain enhancer was nserted immediately downstream of the Jbeta2.5 segment.
