A gene trap vector inserted into intron 3. Gene-trapped transcripts contain a beta-geo fusion sequence, and lack exons 4-8. The encoded proteins lack four of the Makorin family zinc-finger motifs, including the essential RING E3 ubiquitin ligase domain. Histochemical visualization of the expressed fusion protein refined existing data that this gene is widely expressed and very abundant in specific cell types of the central nervous system and testis.
