This transgene consists of the human insulin-like growth factor 1B cDNA under the control of the rat alpha-myosin heavy chain promoter. IGF1 mRNA was not detectable in the fetal heart at the end of gestation but is present at modest levels at 1 day after birth and increased progressively with postnatal maturation, reaching a peak at 75 days. IGF1 is exclusively expressed in the heart. (J:35215)
