A targeting vector was designed to replace exons 2-8 with a pgk-NPRT cassette. The deleted sequence included 500 nucleotides upstream of the putative transcriptional initiation site and the first three exons that encode the bHLH domain. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR confirmed absence of transcript in mutant testes. (J:109310)
