This transgene consists of the rat Hsd11b1 gene under the control of the enhancer-promoter region of the adipocyte fatty acid binding protein (Fabp4) gene. Hsd11b1 transcript is expressed equivalently in adipose tissue from subcutaneous, abdominal, epididymal, mesenteric, and interscapular brown adipose tissue depots but is absent in brain, liver, skeletal muscle and kidney. Hsd11b1 mRNA is increased 7-fold compared to endogenous mRNA and activity is increased 2.4-fold in subcutaneous abdominal fat and 2.7-fold in epididymal fat. (J:107046)
