Cre expression is under the alpha Camk2 promoter and is expressed exclusively in forebrain structures: cortex, striatum, hippocampus, amygdala. It is highly expressed in the CA1 region of the hippocampus and expressed less in the CA3 and dentate gyrus. It is not expressed in the midbrain and cerebellum. (J:107042)
