Tg(Myh6-Pik3r1/PIK3CA)BSiz

This transgene consists of the mouse alpha myosin heavy chain (Myh6) promoter and the inter-Src homology 2 (iSH2) domain of Pik3r1 (p85) fused to the N-terminus of bovine PIK3CA (p110alpha). Myh6 drives the expression of a constitutively active phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase specifically in cardiac myocytes. Immunoprecipitation and western blotting confirmed transgene expression exclusively in the heart and a lipid kinase assay indicated that phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase activity was increased 6.5-fold.
