A Pgk-neo/Tau-lacZ cassette was inserted into the locus to replace the initiation codon and the basic and HLH domains. The pattern of lacZ staining in the brain of mutant embryos and newborn mice was comparable to the distribution of the wild-type transcript. (J:104419)
