Exon 2 and part of intron 1 including the splice acceptor were deleted via cre mediated recombination. The predicted mRNA would contain just the 5' part of the intron sequence as multiple stop codons in the intron prevent translation of the unspliced mRNA. This potential translation product would have 45 amino acids. Northern blot did not detect transcript in mutants. (J:104192)
