The floxed exon 2 and neomycin resistance gene were deleted from the Nt5etm2Jsc allele via cre-mediated excision. RT-PCR detected a shortened transcript at levels similar to wild-type. The mutation caused a frame shift at the new exon 1 to 3 junction, resulting in the termination of translation after the first exon. Protein was not detected in Western blot. (J:102299)
