A loxP-flanked neo was inserted into intron 7 and a third exon into intron 8, flanking exon 8 which encodes the aldehyde dehydrogenase glutamic acid active site. Transient transfection of ES cells with a cre-expressing plasmid resulted in the excision of the neo. (J:102847)
