A targeting vector was designed to contain a floxed neo at position -1601 (upstream of exon 1) and a third loxP site downstream of exon 1 at position 419. Crossing with mice expressing cre in the germline removed the neo, leaving exon 1 flanked by loxP sites. (J:99237)
