An IRES-lacZ-neo cassette was inserted to replace 174 bp encompassing exon 3 and parts of exons 2 and 4, and encoding the first and second membrane-spanning segments of domain I. While RT-PCR analysis detects a gene transcript in most tissues analyzed, beta-galactosidase expression from this allele is not detectable in any tissues or organs. (J:99870)
