A bacterial lacZ gene was inserted into the gene such that the endogenous gene promoter drives expression of beta-galactosidase. High levels of RNA transcripts are detectable in all tissues analyzed. LacZ (beta-galactosidase) expression is detectable in brain, pituitary gland and testis.
