A bacterial lacZ gene was inserted into the gene such that the endogenous gene promoter drives expression of beta-galactosidase. RNA transcripts are detectable in all tissues analyzed. LacZ (beta-galactosidase) expression is detectable in brain, Harderian glands, aorta, heart, lung, kidney, urinary bladder, salivary glands, tongue, external ear, male and female reproductive systems. In many of the tissues with detectable expression, lacZ expression is detectable in blood vessels.
