The mouse prion protein promoter was used to drive expression of human microtubule-associated protein tau cDNA with exon 10, but lacking exons 2 and 3. These exons encode four-repeat tau without amino-terminal inserts. Mutant mice expressed the transgene at a level below that of endogenous tau. (J:63887)
