Exons 1 and 2 were replaced with a neomycin resistance gene to create this severely hypomorphic allele. Although a transcript from these two exons was not present in Northern blot analyses, a transcript originating from exon 3 was found. Western blot demonstrated the presence of a nonfunctional protein product probably originating from exon 4. (J:97770)
