The complete EGFP coding sequence was inserted in-frame in the first coding exon while an FRT site flanked neomycin resistance gene cassette and a loxP site were inserted 246 bp 5' of exon 1. Chimeric male mice were subsequently mated to a Flp-deleter strain to excise the neo cassette. Gene function was not affected by this mutation. (J:97029)
