The clone used for gene trapping was isolated from a library of embryonic stem cells randomly targeted with the retroviral vector VICTR45 using an enhancer trap strategy. Retroviral insertion occurred at nucleotide 849 of intron 1 located within the 5' untranslated region (2.8 kb from the ATG). RT-PCR analysis revealed that transcript was absent in most homozygous mice. However, in some homozygotes a low level of protein (about 5-10% of wild-type) is detected. (J:103485, J:103769, J:111418)
