An IRES-TAU-LacZ and a floxed neo replaced most of the coding sequence in exon 2 by homologous recombination. Any transcript translated would be only the first 19 amino acids. Northern blot of mutant brain tissues demonstrated the absence of a wild-type transcript and confirmed the creation of a null allele. (J:96121)
