A lacZneo was fused in frame after nucleotide 10 of the ATG in exon 2, and replaced part of exon 2 and all of exons 3 and 4. RT-PCR and Western blot analysis of the inner ear of mutants demonstrated the lack of transcript and protein, respectively. (J:96000)
