A beta-geo cassette which includes a splice acceptor site sequence, a bacterial beta-galactosidase maker (lacZ), an internal ribosome entry site (IRES) and a neomycin resistance sequence, replaced exons 2 and 3. This results in the expression of an aberrant transcript encoding only exon 1 spliced to a beta-geo. (J:239386)
