Coding exon 1 was targeted. A 72 bp genomic fragment starting with the ATG start codon in exon 1 was replaced with an IRES lacZ/MC1neo selection cassette. Transcript is absent in homozygous mice and protein was shown to be absent by Western blot analysis. (J:103485, J:174414)
