A targeting construct was designed to delete exons 2 and 3, corresponding to the second NPA box of the locus, and replace them with an IRES-beta-gal-MC1-neo cassette. Northern blot of mutants demonstrated lack of transcript in kidney and liver samples. Western blot and immunohistochemistry confirmed absence of protein in mutant kidney samples. (J:100522)
