Beta-galactosidase and neomycin resistance genes were inserted in frame into exon 2 and an AU-rich degradation sequence was inserted 3' of the stop codon. Northern blot using as a probe a fragment corresponding to exon 1 indicated a lack of transcript in mutants. (J:94137)
