A neo cassette flanked by loxP sites inserted into intron 3 and an additional loxP site within exon 9 via homologous recombination. Expression of Cre recombinase in recombinant ES cells resulted in the deletion of exons 4-9. Western blot analysis confirmed the absence of protein in hippocampal homogenates at P0 and in hippocampal neurons cultured for 10 days. (J:93969)
