The transgene contains ~700-bp of the rat insulin promoter (RIP-1) and a 1.8-kb mouse Neurod1 coding region with its amino terminus fused to a Myc tag. The rat insulin promoter is used to drive the transgene expression in pancreatic islets. Transgene expression, as shown by immunostaining using anti-Myc tag antibody, is detected in the pancreatic islets but not in the brains of P30 rescued mice. (J:74715)
