An IRES-lacZ-neomycin resistance cassette replaced the first and part of the second exon including parts of the DNA binding bHLH region, and placed lacZ under control of endogenous transcriptional elements. Beta-galactosidase was expresssed under the control of the endogenous promoter. (J:93303)
