The transgene encodes a light chain that, when co-expressed with a transgene encoding the heavy chain with the VDJ of mAB125, binds most mammalian insulins. The source of the immunoglobulin kappa chain VJ sequence in this transgene was the BALB/c IgG1 mouse anti-human insulin monoclonal antibody, mAb125 (from the American Type Culture Collection).
