The murine Cd8a and Cd8b1 coding sequences were placed under the control of the T cell-specific CD2 promoter. Six copies of the transgene incorporated into the genome. The resulting heterodimer complex expressed was the "CD8.1" variant that differs from the "CD8.2" variant complex normally expressed in C57BL/6 mice. Transgenic expression was detected on almost all thymocytes and T cells as determined by flow cytometry using antibodies that can distinguish the two CD8 variants. (J:93004)
