Pigeon cytochrome c was engineered for expression in lymphoid tissues of transgenic mice in two forms. The form of cytochrome c in this construct is expressed as a type II plasma membrane protein (mPCC) by replacing the NH2-terminal mitochondrial targeting sequence with the influenza neuraminidase type II signal anchor. mRNA expression levels are higher in mice carrying this transgene than in mice carrying Tg(H2KePCC)2403. PCC was expressed in thymus, spleen and LPS stimulated B cells as determined by Northern blot. (J:92997)
