A lacZ-PGK-neo cassette was inserted after the ATG in exon 2 replacing all of exon 2. PCR analysis confirmed the absence of wild-type transcript in homozygous mice. Staining indicated presence of lacZ in adipocytes, cardiomyocytes, skeletal myocytes and smooth muscle cells. (J:92922, J:121109)
