Exons 2 and 3, encoding the presumptive catalyitic site, were replaced with a neomycin resistance gene. RT-PCR demonstrated a lack of transcript in mutants. Immunoperoxidase labeling against the endogenous protein confirmed its absence in kidneys. (J:92598)
