A promoterless lacZ gene and a neomycin selection cassette replaced exons 8 and 9, which encode the basic domain, the glutamine-rich domain and part of the SAP domain. These domains are required for the normal function of the gene. RT-PCR analysis demonstrated that no detectable transcript was expressed from this allele in homozygous mice. (J:84789)
