Crossing Pax8tm1(cre)Mbu with mice expressing FLP recombinase in the germline created this allele in which the frt-flanked neo downstream of the inserted Cre was excised, allowing Cre to be expressed. Expression of cre recombinase was detected in the known Pax8 expression domains; in addition, expression was detected in the adrenal gland, and in the facial, vestibulocochlear and cuneate nerves.
