EGFP and Neo cassettes replaced part of the coding region beginning at the ATG in exon two and extending into intron 4. LoxP sites flanked the EGFP and FRT sites flanked the neo. Southern blot and PCR confirmed recombination in mutants and western blot indicated a reduction of protein levels in heterozygous mice and the absence of protein immunoactivity in the homozygous mutants.
