The two transgenes comprise functionally rearranged T-cell receptor alpha and T-cell receptor beta genes, isolated from the cytotoxic T cell clone B6.2.16, that recognize the male-specific H-Y antigen in the context of the H2-Db major histocompatibilty protein. The alpha chain transgene has the V-alpha3 gene segment joined to the J-alpha27 segment; the beta chain transgene joins V-beta8.2, D-beta1, J-beta2.3 and C-beta2. The two transgenes were co-injected into fertilized oocytes. The founder of line 71 carried four copies of the rearranged T-cell receptor alpha and two copies of the T-cell receptor beta transgenes.
