A lacZ-pGK-Neo cassette was inserted into exon 1 via homologous recombination. Heart and skeletal muscle were shown to lack mRNA and protein expression in homozygotes. Ppgb mRNA and activity were also reduced in homozygotes but only to the level seen in Ppgbtm1Adz heterozygotes which do not show any obvious abnormalities. (J:90054)
