Sequence encoding cre recombinase was adjoined to 2.3 kb of the Col1a1 promoter. The endogenous Col1a1 promoter is active in osteoblasts throughout their differentiation and, accordingly, expression of cre recombinase was detected exclusively in bone. Cytogenetic mapping indicates that the transgene integrated on chromosome 14qE2-4. (J:77071, J:165282)
