The gene was disrupted by replacement of the transcription start and exons 1 and 2 of the genomic DNA with a neomycin cassette via homologous recombination. Northern blot analysis on brown adipose tissue, skin, and liver samples of homozygous mice demonstrated that no detectable transcript is produced from this allele. (J:88477)
