A floxed cassette containing both a PGK-neomycin gene and a cytosine deaminase gene was inserted 5' of exon 2 while a third loxP site was inserted 3' of the exon. Chimeric mice were crossed with cre expressing transgenic mice leading to the excision of the floxed neomycin and cytosine deaminase genes, leaving an intact loxP flanked exon 2. (J:88168)
