Exon 2 was disrupted by the insertion of a beta galactosidase reporter. The targeting vector contained an IRES-lacZ gene plus the simian virus 40 polyadenylation site followed by the neomycin cassette. Brain dissection and whole mount stained with X-Gal revealed beta galactosidase expression. (J:88167)
