Exons 3 and 4 were replaced with a neomycin resistance gene inserted in antisense orientation. Reduced quantities of a smaller than normal sized mRNA were detectable in heart and lung extracts by Northern blot analysis. However, no immunodetectable protein could be identified by Western blot analysis. (J:87621)
