Portions of both Hspa1a and Hspa1b were replaced with a single neomycin selection cassette inserted by homologous recombination. Neither Hspa1a nor Hspa1b transcript was detected by Northern blot analysis of homozygous mutant MEFs (before and after heat shock). Western blot analysis confirmed the absence of both protein species in homozygous mutant MEFs after heat shock treatment. (J:87581)
