Exons 1b, 2, and 3 were replaced by a loxP site, an Fgf3 cDNA and a floxed neomycin resistance gene. Heterozygous mice were then mated to deleter-cre mice to remove the cDNA and neomycin insert. Absence of transcripts was confirmed by RNA in situ hybridization. (J:87221)
