The single protein coding exon was flanked upstream by a loxP site and downstream by a floxed neomycin resistance cassette. Transient Cre expression in correctly targeted cells resulted in removal of both the coding exon and the neomycin cassette. Enzyme activity was absent in spleen, bone marrow, and kidney tissue of homozygotes. (J:86387)
