Exon 1 was replaced with a cassette containing lacZ and neo. Transcript was undetected in homozygous mutant mice by Northern blot analysis of RNA obtained from the small intestine and the colon. The expression pattern of lacZ was realized by X-gal staining and was similar to that of the endogenous gene. (J:86267)
