Exon 2 was replaced with a cassette containing IRES-BetaGal followed by MC1-neo. Normal transcript was undetected by Northern blot analysis of RNA obtained from the brains of homozygous mutant mice. Western blot analysis indicated an absence of normal protein in homozygous mutant mice. Beta-galactosidase activity was observed in homozygous mutant mice. (J:85927)
