A genomic fragment including exon 3 was replaced with a cassette containing a spice acceptor sie, an internal ribosomal entry site followed by a lacZ gene, and a neomycin selection gene. Western blot analysis of kidney and liver proteins derived from homozygous mice demonstrated that no detectable protein was made from this allele. (J:77485)
